Canterbury Manor is an independent senior community and a resource for Bremerton and surrounding Kitsap County. Owned and operated by Episcopal Retirement Communities, Canterbury Manor is designed for the independent seniors who prefer to live a care-free, maintenance-free lifestyle that provides time for socializing with friends, staying active, and time to pursue their heart’s desire.
Episcopal Retirement Communities began pursuing solar energy for the site in 2023. Olympia Community supported project development by soliciting and selecting contractor proposals, with Solterra ultimately serving as the installation partner. We secured funding for the project through PSE’s Solar Grants and WSU Community Solar Program.

The solar installation was completed in July of 2025, consisting of 276 Washington-made SilFab panels. The system is projected to produce 153,600 KWh yearly, saving Canterbury Manor over $20,000 in energy costs. Starting at an estimated $24,000 saved in the first year, over the next 30 years the project will generate roughly $1,037,465.68 in savings for the organization. Savings from the solar array will directly benefit Canterbury residents and support Episcopal Retirement Communities’ mission.
The solar energy produced each year will reduce their carbon footprint by 144,691 lb of CO2 emissions, equivalent to planting 1,119 trees or not driving 172,106 miles each year.
