The St. Barnabas community and project partners are thrilled to announce the completion of the solar installation on the rooftop of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church.

This project, made possible through the collective efforts of the church volunteer team, the WA Department of Commerce Clean Energy Program, Olympia Community Solar, and Power Trip Energy, goes beyond reducing carbon emissions. By reducing operating costs, it expands the church’s ability to serve residents of Bainbridge Island. This ceremony is a great opportunity to learn more about the benefits of community solar, meet the individuals and organizations that have made this project a reality, and celebrate St. Barnabas’ commitment to caring for God’s creation and supporting and empowering the community of Bainbridge Island.

 

The program will include: 

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony (11:00am, outside Parish Hall) will include words of acknowledgement from key project partners: 

  • The Rev. Dianne Andrews, Interim
  • George Robertson, St. Barnabas Episcopal Church
  • Andy Cochrane, President of Power Trip Energy
  • Mason Rolph, Olympia Community Solar Executive Director
  • Elected officials

Educational workshop (12:00pm, inside Parish Hall)

  • Andy Cochrane and Mason Rolph will provide a presentation featuring information about the project, how solar power works, and how people interested in solar can learn more.

A free tour St. Barnabas Episcopal Church

Attendees may park in either parking lot, but it may be easier to access the event from the lower lot. From the lower lot proceed toward the labyrinth for the event. 

 

The project is funded from a grant from the WA Department of Commerce Clean Energy Community Grants program, which is supported with funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act. The CCA supports Washington’s climate action efforts by putting cap-and-invest dollars to work reducing climate pollution, creating jobs, and improving public health. Information about the CCA is available at www.climate.wa.gov.
